Referee Sunny Sukhvir Gill promptly halted the match, leading the players off the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Medical personnel from both teams rushed to assist Purslow, who was subsequently taken to the hospital by ambulance. Despite the efforts of the local hospital staff, 71-year-old Purslow passed away on January 14 in the intensive care unit due to cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Bolton Wanderers is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter Ian Purslow,&#8221; states the official statement from Bolton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a club with a rich history, including four FA Cup victories (1923, 1926, 1929, 1958) and the country&#8217;s Super Cup in 1958, Bolton currently holds the 3rd place in League One, the third-tier division, with 51 points. Portsmouth, the league leader, has 53 points.
