Steph is upset about the Warriors’ double-OT loss to the Lakers and tears his jersey

Steph Curry’s visible frustration was on display following the Golden State Warriors’ 145-144 double-overtime defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday at Chase Center, as reported by NBC Sports Bay Area.

Immediately after the Warriors’ record dropped to 19-24, Curry expressed his frustration by tearing his jersey while walking off the court towards the tunnel.

Curry’s frustration stems from his impressive 46-point performance in the double-overtime loss. Despite hitting a crucial go-ahead 3-pointer with just 5.2 seconds remaining in the second extra period, the Warriors ultimately witnessed LeBron James making two free throws with 1.2 seconds left, leading to an unexpected victory for the Lakers.

Speaking to reporters post-game, Curry reflected on the season, acknowledging the team’s challenges, self-inflicted setbacks, and the disappointment of losing games they should have won. He likened the situation to the recent game against the Kings on Thursday night, where, despite playing well, they ended up with nothing to show for their efforts.

“We battled throughout the entire game, staying resilient even when faced with challenges, continuously giving ourselves a chance. It came down to the last possession multiple times in regulation and both overtimes. This demonstrates our strong desire and a sense of urgency to turn our season around, but unfortunately, we currently have no tangible results to show for our efforts.”

In response to inquiries about the team’s frustration, exemplified by Curry tearing his jersey, Warriors coach Steve Kerr shared with reporters the message he conveyed to his players post-game.

Kerr reiterated to reporters the same sentiment he shared earlier, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to turn things around. He believes in the resilience of the players, emphasizing that despite the challenges faced this season, there’s still a long journey ahead with many positive opportunities.

The Warriors have now suffered consecutive heart-wrenching one-point defeats, the first being against the Kings on Thursday.

Despite an outstanding effort from Curry against the Lakers, where he shot 17 of 35 from the field and 9 of 21 from 3-point range, the team couldn’t secure a win. Notably, contributions came from other key players, including Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Jonathan Kuminga.

Curry and the Warriors have a two-day break before facing the Philadelphia 76ers at Chase Center on Tuesday night.
